WHAT IS MONEY?
THE CURRENCY OF LIFE: UNDERSTANDING ENERGY, VALUE, KNOWLEDGE & THE POWER TO CREATE
WHAT IF EVERYTHING YOU THOUGHT YOU UNDERSTOOD ABOUT MONEY WAS ONLY A FRACTION OF WHAT THERE IS TO UNDERSTAND?
What is MONEY?
Is it the paper you carry in your pocket? The numbers displayed inside your bank account? The balance on your credit card? Or is MONEY simply a representation of something far more valuable?
Before you can understand how to ACQUIRE money, perhaps you should first understand what money actually REPRESENTS.
Money is a form of CURRENCY.
And when I think about CURRENCY, I think about CURRENT.
ELECTRICAL CURRENT.
Now, I am not suggesting that financial currency and electrical current are scientifically identical, or that these words necessarily share the same linguistic origin. I am inviting you to recognize a fascinating relationship through the POWER of analogy.
Electricity moves through a circuit.
Money moves through an economy.
Both can be understood through the concepts of FLOW, TRANSFER, CONNECTION, and EXCHANGE.
And sometimes, the WORDS we use reveal interesting ways to examine the world around us.
Consider a WIRE TRANSFER.
In electricity, a wire provides a pathway through which electrical current can travel.
In finance, a wire transfer provides a mechanism for transferring MONEY from one account to another.
Now consider the word CHARGE.
An electrical charge is a physical property associated with matter.
A financial charge is an amount someone is required to pay.
A criminal charge is a formal accusation.
One WORD. Different meanings. Yet each provides an opportunity to examine the relationship between language, systems, and human behavior.
A person accused of wire fraud may receive a criminal CHARGE.
If convicted, that person may be confined inside a CELL.
A battery contains CELLS capable of storing and delivering electrical energy.
Your body is composed of CELLS containing biological INFORMATION.
And a person released from jail may be required to post a BOND.
In chemistry, an ionic BOND describes an attraction between oppositely charged ions.
In finance and law, a BOND may represent a financial obligation or a form of security.
Even the ELECTRIC CHAIR introduces another unsettling intersection between electricity, human life, and our institutions.
Do you see the pattern?
These are different concepts with different definitions. But when examined symbolically, they invite a much larger question:
HOW MUCH OF YOUR LIFE IS SPENT GENERATING, TRANSFERRING, STORING, OR EXCHANGING SOMETHING OF VALUE?
UNDERSTAND?
Or should I say, OVERSTAND?
Because I don't want you to simply memorize the WORDS.
I want you to examine the PRINCIPLES.
MONEY IS NOT THE ONLY CURRENCY YOU POSSESS.
Every human being possesses something that can be exchanged.
TIME.
ENERGY.
ATTENTION.
KNOWLEDGE.
EXPERIENCE.
CREATIVITY.
SKILL.
These are forms of VALUE, even when they are not represented by a dollar amount.
Think about this.
An employer compensates an employee for their TIME, LABOR, SKILL, and CONTRIBUTION.
An entrepreneur creates a product or service that someone considers valuable enough to purchase.
An inventor transforms an IDEA into something that may solve a problem.
An author converts THOUGHTS into written KNOWLEDGE.
A consultant shares EXPERIENCE, PERSPECTIVE, and STRATEGIC UNDERSTANDING to help another person examine challenges, recognize opportunities, and make more informed decisions.
Different activities.
Different forms of exchange.
But a common principle:
VALUE IS CREATED OR DELIVERED. MONEY IS ONE WAY THAT VALUE IS EXCHANGED.
Now ask yourself something.
If TIME is one of your most valuable resources, why do so many people spend their entire lives learning how to exchange TIME for MONEY without learning how to use their KNOWLEDGE to create additional VALUE?
And if KNOWLEDGE can help you create VALUE, wouldn't acquiring the RIGHT KNOWLEDGE be one of the most important investments you could make?
WHAT ARE YOU REALLY GETTING PAID FOR?
People frequently ask:
"HOW MUCH ARE YOU GOING TO CHARGE ME?"
But have you ever considered the question from another perspective?
WHAT AM I ACTUALLY RECEIVING IN EXCHANGE?
Suppose two individuals charge the same amount for a service.
One possesses limited experience.
The other has spent decades studying, experimenting, failing, succeeding, creating, and developing an understanding of that particular subject.
Are you purchasing the same thing?
The PRICE may be identical.
But the VALUE may be entirely different.
Now consider the opposite.
One person charges $100.
Another charges $10,000.
Does the higher PRICE automatically mean the service has greater VALUE?
Absolutely not.
And does the lower PRICE automatically make something a better investment?
Not necessarily.
The intelligent question is not simply HOW MUCH something costs.
The intelligent question is:
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF WHAT I AM RECEIVING, AND HOW DOES THAT VALUE RELATE TO MY OBJECTIVES?
This is where WISDOM enters the equation.
KNOWLEDGE may help you identify an opportunity.
UNDERSTANDING may help you recognize how that opportunity works.
But WISDOM helps you determine whether that opportunity makes SENSE for your particular circumstances.
PRICE IS WHAT YOU'RE ASKED TO EXCHANGE.
VALUE IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE YOU'RE RECEIVING.
WISDOM IS KNOWING WHEN THE EXCHANGE MAKES SENSE.
GENERATIONAL WEALTH: ARE YOU GENERATING MONEY OR CREATING SOMETHING THAT CAN CONTINUE WITHOUT YOU?
Let's examine another phrase.
GENERATIONAL WEALTH.
Notice the word GENERATION.
Now think about a GENERATOR.
A generator converts one form of energy into electrical energy.
I find that comparison fascinating because GENERATIONAL WEALTH also raises a question about continuity.
What are you creating today that can continue producing VALUE tomorrow?
And more importantly:
WHAT ARE YOU CREATING THAT CAN CONTINUE BENEFITING OTHERS WHEN YOU ARE NO LONGER HERE?
Money can be spent.
Possessions can depreciate.
Markets can fluctuate.
Businesses can fail.
But an asset capable of producing sustainable income may create opportunities beyond the person who originally established it.
Consider the difference between receiving $100,000 and possessing an asset capable of generating $100,000 over time.
The first represents a SUM of money.
The second may represent a SYSTEM for producing income.
Neither is automatically superior without examining the risks, costs, and circumstances.
But the distinction is important.
One is a RESOURCE.
The other may become a SOURCE.
Now imagine combining that asset with KNOWLEDGE, responsible management, and the ability to teach future generations how to preserve and develop what they inherit.
Because GENERATIONAL WEALTH is not simply about transferring MONEY.
It is also about transferring the UNDERSTANDING necessary to manage it.
What good is leaving someone a million dollars if they have never learned how to manage a thousand?
WEALTH WITHOUT WISDOM CAN DISAPPEAR.
WISDOM CAN HELP PEOPLE MAKE BETTER DECISIONS WITH THE WEALTH THEY POSSESS.
ARE YOU WORKING FOR MONEY, OR IS YOUR MONEY WORKING TOWARD SOMETHING?
Some of you reading this desire financial freedom.
Some of you want to eliminate debt.
Some of you are burdened by student loans.
Some of you owe more on your vehicles than those vehicles are worth.
Some of you are building businesses but struggling to obtain CAPITAL.
Some of you possess extraordinary IDEAS but have never learned how to turn those ideas into commercially viable products or services.
And some of you are concerned about something far more immediate:
HOW WILL I PAY MY NEXT BILL?
HOW WILL I PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY?
HOW WILL I CREATE A DIFFERENT FUTURE?
These are real challenges.
And I would never suggest that every financial problem can be solved by positive thinking alone.
Circumstances matter.
Resources matter.
Opportunity matters.
Systems matter.
But so does KNOWLEDGE.
Because the more you UNDERSTAND, the more effectively you may be able to evaluate your OPTIONS.
A person who only understands how to earn income through employment may never consider other legitimate income-producing opportunities.
A business owner who doesn't understand financing may overlook funding structures that could support responsible expansion.
An entrepreneur who doesn't understand MARKETING may possess an extraordinary product that nobody knows exists.
An inventor who doesn't understand COMMERCIALIZATION may possess a valuable concept without knowing how to bring it to market.
A person who doesn't understand the relationship between DEBT and ASSETS may treat every financial obligation as though it serves the same purpose.
Yet borrowing money to purchase something that rapidly depreciates is not necessarily the same as borrowing money to acquire an asset capable of generating income.
Of course, an income-producing asset can also lose money, and debt introduces obligations and risks.
The difference is not that one type of debt is automatically GOOD and another automatically BAD.
The difference is the PURPOSE, STRUCTURE, COST, RISK, and POTENTIAL RETURN.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW TO BORROW MONEY.
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND WHAT THE MONEY IS BEING USED TO CREATE.
That is the difference between merely accessing CAPITAL and developing a STRATEGY for its use.
YOUR JOB IS NOT YOUR ENEMY. DEPENDENCE WITHOUT OPTIONS IS THE CONCERN.
Have you ever heard someone say that JOB stands for JUST OVER BROKE?
It's a popular expression, not the actual origin of the word.
And while I understand the sentiment, I want you to consider something deeper.
There is nothing inherently wrong with employment.
An employee can build substantial wealth.
A business owner can become financially distressed.
A person with a high salary may have very little financial freedom.
And someone with a modest income may develop considerable financial stability through disciplined decisions.
So the real question is not simply whether you have a JOB.
The question is:
HOW MUCH CONTROL DO YOU HAVE OVER YOUR TIME, INCOME, DECISIONS, AND FUTURE?
If another person determines when you must report to work, when you can take a vacation, how your compensation is structured, and what responsibilities you must fulfill, then part of your economic life depends upon that relationship.
But entrepreneurship introduces its own responsibilities.
Customers.
Employees.
Expenses.
Competition.
Taxes.
Risk.
Owning a business does not automatically make you FREE.
Sometimes an entrepreneur creates a business only to discover that the business now controls every hour of their day.
OWNERSHIP WITHOUT STRUCTURE CAN BECOME ANOTHER FORM OF DEPENDENCE.
This is why I believe the objective should not simply be to escape employment.
The objective should be to increase your CAPABILITIES, strengthen your OPTIONS, and create a life that reflects your priorities.
Employment can be a TOOL.
Entrepreneurship can be a TOOL.
Investing can be a TOOL.
Education can be a TOOL.
The question is whether you understand HOW and WHEN to use each one.
Because possessing a tool does not automatically mean you know how to build something with it.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SYSTEM YOU DEPEND UPON CHANGES?
The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated how quickly economic circumstances can change.
Businesses closed.
Industries experienced enormous disruptions.
Employees lost jobs.
Supply chains were interrupted.
And countless people discovered how vulnerable their financial situations had become.
For some, the problem was not a lack of effort.
It was a lack of alternatives.
Now consider the banking system.
In the United States, eligible deposits at FDIC-insured banks are generally insured up to $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category, subject to the applicable rules.
That protection is important, but it does not eliminate every financial risk, protect every investment, or guarantee the purchasing power of money.
So I ask you:
WHAT DOES FINANCIAL SECURITY REALLY MEAN?
Is it having money inside a bank?
Is it owning property?
Is it possessing an income-producing business?
Is it having access to food, water, shelter, and other essential resources?
Is it having the SKILLS to rebuild after a setback?
Perhaps true financial resilience involves more than one of these things.
Because when a person depends entirely upon a single source of income, a single customer, a single employer, or a single system, that person may become especially vulnerable when circumstances change.
But understand something important.
Diversification is not simply about having five different businesses.
Five unprofitable businesses can create more problems than one successful business.
THE OBJECTIVE IS NOT TO HAVE MORE SOURCES OF INCOME SIMPLY FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING MORE.
THE OBJECTIVE IS TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE SOURCES OF VALUE THAT MAKE SENSE FOR YOUR SITUATION.
And that requires PLANNING.
WHAT IF THE MONEY YOU'RE SEARCHING FOR IS CONNECTED TO A PROBLEM YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO SOLVE?
Now, let me ask you a question.
What if you could provide a product or service worth ONE DOLLAR to ONE MILLION people?
That would represent ONE MILLION DOLLARS in gross revenue.
Not profit.
REVENUE.
There is a difference.
Expenses, taxes, production, distribution, customer acquisition, and other costs must still be considered.
But I want you to focus on the PRINCIPLE.
One dollar.
One million people.
One million dollars in revenue.
Now reverse the equation.
What if you provided a service worth $1,000 to 1,000 customers?
Again, ONE MILLION DOLLARS in gross revenue.
What if you provided a service worth $10,000 to 100 customers?
The same potential gross revenue.
Different customers.
Different markets.
Different business models.
Different responsibilities.
SAME MATHEMATICAL RESULT.
Now ask yourself:
Which approach makes the most sense for your KNOWLEDGE, RESOURCES, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, and OBJECTIVES?
Some businesses are built through VOLUME.
Others are built through SPECIALIZATION.
Some serve millions of customers.
Others serve a relatively small number of clients with highly specialized needs.
The question is not merely how many people you can CHARGE.
The question is:
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN YOU HELP, WHAT PROBLEM CAN YOU SOLVE, AND WHAT VALUE ARE THEY WILLING AND ABLE TO EXCHANGE FOR THAT SOLUTION?
That is where business development begins.
Not with the desire to TAKE money from people.
But with the ability to CREATE something people genuinely VALUE.
YOU MAY ALREADY POSSESS SOMETHING MORE VALUABLE THAN YOU REALIZE.
I have spent decades exploring different industries, studying human behavior, developing ideas, creating businesses, understanding marketing, and examining the relationship between KNOWLEDGE and RESULTS.
And one of the most important lessons I have learned is that people frequently underestimate the VALUE of what they already KNOW.
Someone who has spent twenty years mastering a particular trade may possess KNOWLEDGE that could benefit thousands of others.
Someone who has overcome an extraordinary challenge may possess EXPERIENCE that could help another person avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Someone who understands a specific industry may recognize opportunities that are invisible to someone unfamiliar with that field.
An individual may possess an IDEA with commercial potential but lack the STRATEGY to evaluate it.
Another may possess financial resources but lack the UNDERSTANDING necessary to deploy them responsibly.
And another may possess extraordinary TALENT but lack the BRANDING and MARKETING necessary to communicate that talent to the world.
Do you see what I am saying?
SOMETIMES THE OPPORTUNITY IS NOT MISSING.
THE UNDERSTANDING NECESSARY TO RECOGNIZE IT IS.
But recognizing an opportunity is only the beginning.
An IDEA must be evaluated.
A PLAN must be developed.
A MARKET must be understood.
A RISK must be considered.
And ACTION must follow.
Because an IDEA without EXECUTION remains a POSSIBILITY.
THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING IN YOUR LIFE MAY BE SOMETHING YOU DON'T KNOW.
Consider two individuals facing the same business challenge.
Both have similar resources.
Both have similar ambitions.
Both are willing to work.
But one understands how to evaluate the market, position a brand, structure an offer, and communicate VALUE.
The other does not.
Could that difference in KNOWLEDGE influence their decisions?
Absolutely.
Now imagine that the second individual spends years making avoidable mistakes because they never considered seeking an experienced outside perspective.
How much did that lack of understanding cost?
Perhaps TIME.
Perhaps MONEY.
Perhaps missed OPPORTUNITIES.
Perhaps nothing at all, depending on the circumstances.
But the larger point remains:
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW CAN SOMETIMES BE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT YOU ARE UNWILLING TO PAY TO LEARN.
This is one reason I believe in the VALUE of CONSULTATION.
Not because a consultant possesses every answer.
No individual does.
And certainly not because paying someone automatically guarantees success.
It doesn't.
The VALUE of a consultation may be found in a QUESTION you never considered asking.
A PERSPECTIVE you never encountered.
A RISK you failed to recognize.
An OPPORTUNITY you overlooked.
Or a STRATEGY you had not previously examined.
Sometimes a conversation confirms that you are already moving in the right direction.
Other times, it reveals that the direction itself deserves reconsideration.
Either way, the objective is not to make you dependent upon another person's THINKING.
THE OBJECTIVE IS TO HELP YOU THINK MORE EFFECTIVELY FOR YOURSELF.
Because I do not believe the greatest VALUE of KNOWLEDGE is found in simply possessing it.
I believe that VALUE is realized through its APPLICATION.
And WISDOM determines how that KNOWLEDGE should be applied.
MY CONSULTING PHILOSOPHY: YOU BRING THE QUESTION. WE EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES.
I have never believed that a person should be defined by only one discipline.
BUSINESS.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
BRANDING.
MARKETING.
INVENTION.
FINANCING.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
HOLISTIC LIVING.
Different subjects.
But I see a common thread connecting them.
THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE TO TRANSFORM THE WAY WE THINK, CREATE, AND MAKE DECISIONS.
My experiences across multiple industries have taught me that an answer in one discipline may introduce a useful perspective in another.
Understanding MARKETING can help an entrepreneur communicate VALUE.
Understanding FINANCING can help a business owner evaluate different ways to access CAPITAL.
Understanding INVENTION can change the way someone approaches PROBLEM-SOLVING.
Understanding HUMAN BEHAVIOR can influence how a brand communicates with its audience.
And understanding yourself may change how you approach every other area of your life.
This is the foundation of my consulting philosophy.
I offer PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS for individuals, entrepreneurs, and organizations seeking an informed outside perspective on their IDEAS, OBJECTIVES, CHALLENGES, and OPPORTUNITIES.
I cannot promise that every conversation will produce the outcome someone desires.
But I can offer something I have spent a significant portion of my life developing:
My KNOWLEDGE.
My EXPERIENCE.
My PERSPECTIVE.
My ability to examine an IDEA from more than one angle.
And my commitment to helping people recognize the importance of THINKING before ACTING.
Because sometimes the greatest contribution you can make to another person is not telling them WHAT to think.
It is helping them discover a more powerful way to THINK.
WHAT MAKES MY APPROACH DIFFERENT? I DON'T SEPARATE THE SPIRITUAL FROM THE PHYSICAL.
What makes my approach to CONSULTING different from many traditional approaches?
I DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN FULLY UNDERSTAND THE EXTERNAL WITHOUT EXAMINING THE INTERNAL.
I incorporate the SPIRITUAL with the PHYSICAL.
The MENTAL with the EMOTIONAL.
The KNOWLEDGE with the WISDOM.
The VISION with the ACTION.
And the POWER of THOUGHT with the PROCESS of CREATION.
WHY?
Because everything is CONNECTED.
You cannot fully understand a person's decisions without considering the THOUGHTS influencing those decisions.
You cannot understand their ACTIONS without examining the BELIEFS, EMOTIONS, and EXPERIENCES that may be guiding them.
And you cannot expect someone to recognize every OPPORTUNITY available to them when their own THINKING has convinced them that those opportunities are impossible.
SOMETIMES THE GREATEST OBSTACLE BETWEEN A PERSON AND THEIR POTENTIAL IS NOT WHAT EXISTS AROUND THEM.
IT IS WHAT THEY HAVE COME TO BELIEVE ABOUT THEMSELVES.
Think about that.
How many people possess extraordinary IDEAS but never act upon them because they are afraid of FAILURE?
How many possess remarkable TALENTS but never develop them because someone convinced them they weren't good enough?
How many have the ability to CREATE something extraordinary but remain stagnant because they have accepted LIMITATIONS that were never truly examined?
And how many spend their entire lives searching for someone else to give them PERMISSION to become what they already possess the potential to BE?
I want you to understand something.
YOUR MIND IS NOT SIMPLY A PLACE WHERE THOUGHTS OCCUR.
IT IS ALSO WHERE POSSIBILITIES ARE IMAGINED, DECISIONS ARE FORMED, AND ACTIONS BEGIN.
Before a person creates a business, they must first conceive the IDEA.
Before an inventor develops an invention, they must first imagine the POSSIBILITY.
Before an architect constructs a building, the structure must first exist as a CONCEPT.
Before you can deliberately change the direction of your life, you must first recognize that another direction may be POSSIBLE.
This is why I place such tremendous VALUE on the POWER of the MIND.
INTELLIGENCE IS ALL AROUND YOU. BUT ARE YOU USING YOUR OWN?
Look around you.
The device you're using to read these words.
The electrical systems powering your home.
The architecture surrounding you.
The transportation systems connecting cities.
The technology that allows human beings to communicate across the world.
All of these creations reflect the APPLICATION of human INTELLIGENCE.
Now examine that word.
INTELLIGENCE.
Within it, I see an invitation to consider the idea of INTEL—information, understanding, and the ability to recognize what others may overlook.
I am using this as a philosophical interpretation, not a literal explanation of the word's origin.
Because INFORMATION is everywhere.
But possessing INFORMATION is not the same as possessing UNDERSTANDING.
And possessing UNDERSTANDING is not the same as knowing how to APPLY it.
INFORMATION TELLS YOU WHAT EXISTS.
KNOWLEDGE HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND IT.
WISDOM HELPS YOU DETERMINE WHAT TO DO WITH IT.
ACTION GIVES THAT UNDERSTANDING AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRODUCE RESULTS.
The world is filled with extraordinary demonstrations of INTELLIGENCE.
But the question is:
ARE YOU DEVELOPING AND APPLYING THE INTELLIGENCE GOD HAS GIVEN YOU?
Or are you allowing FEAR, DOUBT, DISTRACTION, and LIMITING BELIEFS to prevent you from exploring what you are capable of CREATING?
YOUR THOUGHTS INFLUENCE YOUR EMOTIONS. YOUR EMOTIONS INFLUENCE YOUR ACTIONS. YOUR ACTIONS CAN CHANGE YOUR REALITY.
I believe there is tremendous POWER in POSITIVE THOUGHT.
But let me explain what I mean.
I am not suggesting that simply THINKING about a million dollars will cause a million dollars to magically appear inside your bank account.
Nor am I suggesting that every hardship in life is the result of negative thinking.
That would ignore the real circumstances, obstacles, and systems people encounter.
What I am saying is that your THOUGHTS can influence your EXPECTATIONS.
Your EXPECTATIONS can influence your EMOTIONS.
Your EMOTIONS can influence your DECISIONS.
And your DECISIONS, when followed by consistent ACTION, can influence the REALITY you experience.
Now add something else to the equation.
BELIEF.
Not simply repeating words you don't believe.
But developing a genuine conviction that a POSSIBILITY deserves to be explored.
Because when you begin to believe that something is possible, you may become more willing to LEARN, EXPERIMENT, PERSIST, and ACT.
And when you begin taking different ACTIONS, you create opportunities for different RESULTS.
This is where the MENTAL begins to influence the PHYSICAL.
THOUGHT WITHOUT ACTION MAY REMAIN AN IDEA.
ACTION WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING MAY LEAD YOU IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.
BUT THOUGHT, BELIEF, KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, AND ACTION—WORKING TOGETHER—CAN BECOME A POWERFUL FORCE FOR TRANSFORMATION.
Do you see the relationship?
The SPIRITUAL can provide a sense of PURPOSE.
The MENTAL can develop the VISION.
The EMOTIONAL can influence the MOTIVATION.
The PHYSICAL can carry out the ACTION.
And KNOWLEDGE can help guide the PROCESS.
DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS OF LIFE. ONE INTERCONNECTED EXPERIENCE.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER IN BUSINESS?
Imagine two entrepreneurs with similar business ideas.
One has already convinced themselves that the market is too competitive, the opportunity is too difficult, and success is beyond their capabilities.
The other recognizes the challenges but believes those challenges deserve to be examined rather than automatically accepted as defeat.
Which person is more likely to RESEARCH the market?
Which person is more likely to seek KNOWLEDGE?
Which person is more likely to evaluate different STRATEGIES?
Which person is more likely to ACT?
Neither is guaranteed to succeed.
But their internal perspectives may influence how they approach the same external circumstances.
Now consider an individual who possesses an extraordinary IDEA but struggles with CONFIDENCE.
I could spend an entire consultation discussing branding, marketing, pricing, and business strategy.
And those subjects may be valuable.
But what happens if that individual never implements anything we discuss because they don't believe in their own ability to CREATE?
What happens if FEAR prevents them from making the decisions necessary to move forward?
A STRATEGY YOU NEVER IMPLEMENT CANNOT PRODUCE THE RESULTS YOU ARE SEEKING.
This is why my approach goes beyond simply examining a BUSINESS MODEL.
I am also interested in the PERSON responsible for bringing that business model to life.
Their THINKING.
Their OBJECTIVES.
Their BELIEFS.
Their DECISION-MAKING.
Their WILLINGNESS to learn.
And their ability to translate KNOWLEDGE into meaningful ACTION.
Because you can give someone an extraordinary TOOL.
But if they don't believe they possess the ability to USE it, that tool may remain untouched.
THE SPIRITUAL AND THE PHYSICAL ARE NOT COMPETING FOR MY ATTENTION.
I don't view SPIRITUALITY and BUSINESS as subjects that must exist in separate worlds.
My belief in GOD influences the way I understand PURPOSE, CREATION, RESPONSIBILITY, and the potential within human beings.
I believe we are created with the capacity to THINK, IMAGINE, LEARN, and CREATE.
And I believe those capabilities carry RESPONSIBILITY.
But I also recognize the importance of practical knowledge, evidence, preparation, and disciplined execution.
PRAYER does not eliminate the need for PLANNING.
FAITH does not eliminate the need for ACTION.
BELIEF does not eliminate the need for KNOWLEDGE.
And a powerful VISION does not eliminate the need to understand the REALITY in which that vision must operate.
FAITH CAN INSPIRE THE VISION.
KNOWLEDGE CAN INFORM THE STRATEGY.
WISDOM CAN GUIDE THE DECISIONS.
ACTION CAN BRING THE VISION INTO THE PHYSICAL WORLD.
This is the relationship I want people to UNDERSTAND.
My spiritual beliefs are part of my personal philosophy, not a religious requirement for working with me. I respect that clients come from different backgrounds, belief systems, and experiences.
What matters is helping each individual examine their situation with greater CLARITY, PURPOSE, and UNDERSTANDING.
SOMETIMES THE TRANSFORMATION BEGINS BEFORE THE FIRST DOLLAR IS EARNED.
Think about this.
If you develop the KNOWLEDGE to recognize a business opportunity that you previously overlooked, has something changed?
YES.
If you overcome a limiting assumption and begin taking ACTION toward an IDEA you once considered impossible, has something changed?
YES.
If you learn to evaluate DEBT differently, understand how CAPITAL works, or recognize the importance of creating VALUE before expecting compensation, has something changed?
YES.
Your bank account may not have changed yet.
Your business may not have generated its first dollar.
Your invention may not have reached the marketplace.
But something important may have already begun to change.
YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
And that UNDERSTANDING may influence the decisions you make next.
This is why I don't measure the VALUE of KNOWLEDGE solely by the amount of money it immediately produces.
Sometimes KNOWLEDGE saves you from making an expensive mistake.
Sometimes it helps you recognize an opportunity.
Sometimes it challenges a belief that has limited your thinking for years.
And sometimes it changes the way you see YOURSELF.
BECAUSE BEFORE YOU CAN CHANGE WHAT YOU CREATE, YOU MAY NEED TO CHANGE HOW YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR ABILITY TO CREATE.
This is the deeper philosophy behind my consulting work.
I don't simply want to discuss what you want to ACCOMPLISH.
I want to help you examine HOW you are THINKING about accomplishing it.
Not to impose my beliefs upon you.
Not to promise that positive thinking alone will transform your circumstances.
And not to suggest that every obstacle can be overcome through mindset.
But to recognize that your INTERNAL WORLD and your EXTERNAL DECISIONS are connected.
Because when KNOWLEDGE expands your UNDERSTANDING, and UNDERSTANDING influences your THINKING, you may begin to recognize POSSIBILITIES that previously escaped your attention.
And when those POSSIBILITIES are supported by WISDOM, PLANNING, and ACTION, they have an opportunity to become something REAL.
MASTER YOUR MIND.
EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
STRENGTHEN YOUR BELIEF.
APPLY YOUR WISDOM.
TAKE ACTION.
CREATE WITH PURPOSE.
Because the objective is not simply to acquire more MONEY.
THE OBJECTIVE IS TO BECOME MORE CONSCIOUS OF THE POWER YOU POSSESS TO CREATE VALUE, MAKE DECISIONS, AND INFLUENCE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LIFE.
And perhaps one of the greatest forms of WEALTH begins with recognizing that POWER.
SO, WHAT IS MONEY?
I began by asking you a simple question.
WHAT IS MONEY?
And perhaps now you recognize why I believe the answer deserves more than a simple definition.
Money is a medium of exchange.
A unit of account.
A store of value, although its purchasing power can change.
It is also a tool that human beings use to coordinate economic activity.
But money itself is not KNOWLEDGE.
It is not WISDOM.
It is not PURPOSE.
And it is not the measure of a human being's worth.
Money can provide OPTIONS.
It can support CREATION.
It can finance IDEAS.
It can help build institutions, support families, and develop opportunities for future generations.
But it cannot automatically teach you how to make intelligent decisions.
And possessing more money does not necessarily mean possessing more UNDERSTANDING.
That is why I want you to consider one final distinction.
MAKING MONEY IS AN ACTIVITY.
CREATING VALUE IS A PRINCIPLE.
BUILDING WEALTH IS A PROCESS.
PRESERVING WEALTH REQUIRES DISCIPLINE.
AND USING WEALTH WISELY REQUIRES UNDERSTANDING.
So perhaps the question you should be asking yourself is not simply:
"HOW CAN I MAKE MORE MONEY?"
Perhaps you should also ask:
"WHAT DO I KNOW?"
"WHAT DO I NEED TO LEARN?"
"WHAT PROBLEM CAN I SOLVE?"
"WHAT VALUE CAN I CREATE?"
"WHAT DO I WANT TO OWN?"
"WHAT KIND OF LIFE AM I TRYING TO BUILD?"
And most importantly:
"AM I USING THE KNOWLEDGE I ALREADY POSSESS TO CREATE THE REALITY I DESIRE?"
Because everything you see around you—from the device you're using to read these words to some of the largest corporations in the world—began with something that could not yet be physically seen.
An IDEA.
A THOUGHT.
A POSSIBILITY.
But an IDEA alone does not build a company.
A THOUGHT alone does not create an invention.
And a POSSIBILITY does not become a REALITY without the appropriate ACTION.
You were not created merely to observe what others have built.
YOU WERE CREATED 2 CREATE.
The question is:
WHAT WILL YOU CREATE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE YOU POSSESS?
HAVE AN IDEA, QUESTION, OR BUSINESS CHALLENGE YOU WANT TO EXPLORE?
